Mourns the passing of Dr. Bernard J. "Bernie" Goitein, Ph.D., who died on August 2, 2025

Dr. Goitein was born July 7, 1950 in Queens, New York, graduated from Hebrew University High School in Israel, earned bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology from Hebrew University, and received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 1981

Taught business management at Bradley University and served as director of the Center for Business and Economic Research, where he conducted widely-cited Consumer Confidence surveys measuring central Illinois' economic health

Served the Peoria community as president of the Uplands Residential Association, member of the West Bluff Council, and on the Peoria Transportation Commission, supporting projects including the Uplands Boulevard Gardens and Western Avenue Greenway

Extends condolences to his surviving family, including wife Patricia, three children, five grandchildren, and three siblings
