Congratulates the Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services (LARES) program at the University of Illinois Chicago on its 50th anniversary of serving Latino students in Illinois

LARES was established in 1975 and has grown from serving approximately 100 Latino students to more than 4,000 currently enrolled

UIC now has the highest number of Latino students of any public or private institution in Illinois and grants the largest number of baccalaureate degrees to Latino students in the Midwest

The program received national recognition in 2014, including an Outstanding Institutional Advising Program Award from NACADA and an Example of Excelencia award as the top program for increasing Latino undergraduate achievement

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to the LARES program as an expression of esteem and respect
