Illinois Senate resolution mourning the death of Mary Anne Brown of River Forest, who passed away on May 11, 2025 at age 80

Served as executive director of Hephzibah Home in Oak Park from 1976 until her retirement in 2017, dedicating over 40 years to helping children and families

Led Hephzibah Home in accepting HIV-positive babies into foster care, establishing residential and adoption programs, and becoming one of the first agencies to facilitate adoptions by same-sex couples

Partnered with local schools to provide day care for working mothers and with Oak Park police to create social service programs for families in crisis

Survived by her husband Max Brown, son Cuyler Brown, three grandsons, two sisters, and three brothers; resolution directs that a copy be presented to her family
