Born October 5, 1936 in Canton, Mississippi; moved to Chicago at age six and graduated from Dunbar Trade School in 1953, later attending Cortez Peters Business School and Wilson Junior College

Worked for Chicago Public Schools for her entire public sector career, beginning and ending at Dunbar Vocational High School where she retired as principal secretary to Dr. Floyd Banks

Served as First Lady of Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church alongside her husband Rev. Howard Sanders Nichols Sr. for 59 years of marriage; founded The Nichols Singers music ministry with her daughters

Active in community organizations including serving as general and financial secretary of Track Down Crusade of Christ and Better Citizens Advancement Organization, and founding the W.W. Taylor Institute Congress for Christian Education
