Served in the United States Army and attended Bradley University; worked for Aupperle Construction, a family business celebrating its 120-year anniversary, and owned Cook Rental in Morton

Served as Morton precinct committeeman for over 50 years, Village of Morton assessor for 8 years, and executive director of the Tazewell County Builders Association after retirement

Active in numerous community organizations including Morton Methodist Church, Optimist Club, American Legion, VFW, Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts of America, and Rotary Club

Named 2001 Morton Pumpkin Festival Parade Marshal and Construction Man of the Year by TRICON in 2002; survived by his wife Carol Lindstrom-Aupperle, three daughters, and multiple grandchildren
