Illinois Senate memorial resolution honoring Justice Thomas E. Hoffman of Chicago, who passed away on July 4, 2025 at age 77

Justice Hoffman earned his B.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago in 1969 and his J.D. from John Marshall Law School (now UIC School of Law) in 1971

Career began with the Chicago Police Department, followed by five years as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago, then private practice before joining the judiciary

Appointed associate judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County in 1984, elected circuit judge in 1988, and later served on the First District Appellate Court including a statewide panel reviewing workers' compensation matters

Taught at John Marshall and DePaul University law schools, received the Distinguished Alumni award in 1988, and is survived by his wife Margarita, four children, and five grandchildren
