Served Quincy Public School District for 33 years as a history teacher, director of transportation, and assistant principal at Quincy Junior High School

Led more than 30 student trips to Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada, along with educational trips to Washington, D.C. and the Current River

Served as past president of the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County, spearheading creation of the History Museum on the Square and contributing to Lincoln-related heritage projects

Survived by his wife of 59 years, Gerry, two children, two grandchildren, and extended family members
