Illinois Senate resolution congratulating Citizens for Conservation (CFC) on its 55th anniversary, founded in Barrington in 1971 with the motto "Saving Living Space for Living Things"

CFC currently stewards 732 acres of prairie, wetland, and woodland habitats, having more than doubled its protected land over 55 years

The organization has collected nearly 10,000 pounds of native seed valued at $2.5 million, reintroduced over 300 native plant species, and distributed more than 500,000 native plants to the community

CFC serves as a founding member of the multi-county Barrington Greenways Initiative, sharing native seed with partner groups across Cook, Lake, and McHenry counties to enable habitat restoration

The volunteer-powered nonprofit operates education programs, public bird walks, and summer internships to develop future conservation leaders
