Worked 28 years at M.J. Kellner Company, including 16 years as general manager, retiring in 1988

Served on multiple community boards including Contact Ministries (president), Boys and Girls Club, Springfield Mass Transit District (1989-1999, four years as chairman), and Security Bank Board (1994-2003)

Accomplished golfer at Illini Country Club with four holes-in-one and two-time champion of the Central Illinois Senior Golf Association Tournament; achieved Silver Life Master status in duplicate bridge
