Graduated from Quincy College (now Quincy University) in 1954 with a background in music, playing piano, marimba, and glockenspiel; married Richard H. Niemann Sr. in 1951 and raised eight children

Served extensively in community organizations including the Quincy Symphony Women's Board, Adams County Mental Health Center, Good Samaritan Home Executive Board, and as a Girl Scout leader; honored as Girl Scouts' Woman of Distinction in 2008

Partnered with husband in philanthropy including establishing the Connie Niemann Wheeler Scholarship Fund and the Connie Niemann Center for Music at Quincy University in 2013; both received honorary Doctor of Human Letters degrees in 2021

Survived by seven children, 24 grandchildren, and 52 great-grandchildren
