Graduated from Peoria High School in 1960 and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid, Peoria chapter of the American Red Cross, Creative Logic, and the Human Service Center

Active in community theater with Peoria Players and Corn Stock Theatre, performing in productions including "My Fair Lady" and "The Miracle Worker"

Received the Junior League of Peoria Volunteer of the Year award and the Community Service Award from the Peoria Park District; also chaired the Friendship House project Dress for Success
