Held public service roles including Peoria City Council member and trustee for the Peoria Sanitary District

Co-founded the Moonlight Basketball League and was involved with numerous charitable organizations including Easter Seals, St. Jude, Steamboat Classic, and Heart of Illinois United Way

Inducted into the African American Hall of Fame and recognized in the 1995 Class of Forty Leaders Under 40
