HB 1020 Summary

• Police vehicles must utilize both a siren and red and blue emergency signal lamps for traffic stops to be valid, in addition to officer uniform, badge, or proper identification.

• Authorized emergency vehicles must operate a siren when in immediate pursuit of an actual or suspected law violator.

• Fleeing from a law enforcement officer becomes resisting law enforcement only if the officer has identified himself or herself using both visible and audible means, including siren and emergency lights (changed from "or" to "and").

• Effective July 1, 2010.
