HB 1037 Summary

• Prohibits county, city, or town employees from being candidates for or serving on the legislative or fiscal body of the same county, city, or town that employs them unless they resign from employment.

• Allows employees serving on a legislative or fiscal body as of July 1, 2010, to complete the remainder of their current term without resigning from employment.

• Exempts elected or appointed officers and individuals described in IC 20-26-4-11 from these restrictions.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2010, with the grandfather provision expiring July 1, 2014.
