HB 1087 Summary

• Requires school corporations adopting a resolution to conduct a tax levy referendum to certify the resolution to the department of local government finance and the county fiscal body in each county where the school corporation is located.

• Current law only requires certification to the county auditor; this bill adds the requirement to notify the department of local government finance.

• Applies to resolutions under IC 20-46-1-7 (transferring excessive tax levies) and IC 20-46-1-8 (general referendum tax levies).

• Effective July 1, 2010.
