House Bill 1112 Summary

• Terms of office for the mayor and city-county council members of a consolidated city elected in 2011 expire January 1, 2015.

• Mayor and city-county council members shall be elected at the 2014 general election and every four years thereafter, with successors taking office January 1, 2015.

• Circuit court clerks must place a public question on the 2015 municipal election ballot in each included town asking voters whether the town should dissolve.

• If a majority of voters in an included town approve dissolution, the town's territory becomes part of the consolidated city and its property is transferred to county control, with proceeds deposited in the county general fund.

• The dissolution provision expires July 1, 2016; the effective date of the bill is July 1, 2010.
