HB 1121 Summary

• Establishes a 3% price preference for service disabled veteran small businesses on state public works contracts, state goods and services purchasing, and state highway contracts.

• Creates the Governor's Commission on Service Disabled Veteran Small Business with 13-17 members including the governor's designee (chair), veterans affairs director, economic development corporation chair, nine business professionals appointed geographically, and four legislative advisors.

• Establishes the Office of Deputy Commissioner for Service Disabled Veteran Small Business Development within the Department of Administration to certify service disabled veteran businesses and monitor compliance with participation goals.

• Requires the commission to establish annual participation goals for service disabled veteran small businesses based on statistical analysis and updated every five years.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
