HB 1164 Summary

• Expands the statewide emergency mutual aid program to include fire protection districts established under IC 36-8-11 and fire protection territories established under IC 36-8-19 as eligible participating units.

• Requires participating units receiving disaster assistance to reimburse assisting units for equipment losses, service expenses, and operational costs, except to the extent covered by insurance, Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursements, or state agency reimbursements.

• Allows participating units to withhold or recall loaned resources necessary for their own protection and permits units to establish different reimbursement arrangements through mutual agreements.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
