HB 1172 Summary

• Allows physicians and osteopathic physicians licensed in other jurisdictions to practice medicine as volunteers in shortage areas or health clinic settings in Indiana for up to six days per calendar year without charge.

• Allows nurses licensed in other jurisdictions to practice nursing as volunteers in shortage areas or health clinic settings in Indiana for up to six days per calendar year without charge.

• Volunteer practitioners must not charge fees or accept other consideration from recipients or third parties.

• Volunteer practitioners must remain within the scope of practice authorized by their out-of-state or out-of-country licenses.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
