HB 1182 Summary

• Amends IC 8-23 to require the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to develop and implement complete streets guidelines at the state level.

• Defines a "complete street" as a highway, street, or roadway designed to enable safe, comfortable, and convenient access for all users regardless of age or ability, including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit passengers.

• Requires INDOT to submit annual electronic reports to the General Assembly by December 1st beginning in December 2010 detailing steps taken and progress made in developing and implementing complete streets guidelines.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
