HB 1197 Summary

• Amends wrongful death statute (IC 34-23-1-1) to remove the two-year statute of limitations for actions where death results from murder.

• Allows personal representatives of murder victims to commence wrongful death actions at any time, regardless of how much time passes between the commission of murder and the victim's death.

• Applies only to causes of action that accrue after June 30, 2010.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
