IN HB1294

Requires employees' associations at schools administered by the Department of Correction, the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, or the Indiana School for the Deaf to demonstrate support for the professional development program component of school improvement plans before state board approval.

Mandates that school improvement plans include a professional development program conforming to IC 20-20-31 and meet requirements under IC 20-31-5.

Allows school governing bodies to invoke rule waivers and develop admission plans for students without legal residence in the school's attendance area.

State board must consider whether governing bodies have obtained support from exclusive representatives or school employees' associations when approving school improvement plans.

Effective July 1, 2010.
