HB 1358 Summary

• Requires individuals serving as administrative fire officers, executive fire officers, or other fire ground operation positions to complete Fire Officer I training or equivalent as defined by the board of firefighting personnel standards and education

• Individuals already serving in covered administrative officer positions by December 31, 2011, must complete required training by December 31, 2012

• Individuals first entering covered administrative officer positions after December 31, 2011, must complete required training within one year of assuming the position

• Board of firefighting personnel standards and education may grant up to two six-month extensions to complete training for any reason

• Fire departments must report to the education board when covered administrative officers complete required training; effective July 1, 2010
