Senate Bill No. 24 Summary

• Prohibits starting construction of new confined feeding operations within two miles of state parks or reservoirs operated, maintained, or managed by the Department of Natural Resources after June 30, 2010.

• Prohibits manure application agreements within two miles of state recreational property boundaries after June 30, 2010.

• Exempts expansions of existing confined feeding operations and agricultural operations that become confined feeding operations through expansion from the construction restriction.

• Defines "state recreational property" as state parks or reservoirs owned by the state or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for which the Department of Natural Resources has operational, maintenance, or management responsibility.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
