Adds definition of "protection order" to Indiana Code as an injunction or court order preventing an individual from engaging in violent or threatening acts, harassment, contact, communication, or physical proximity to another person.

Prohibits persons with authority over a decedent's remains from making disposition decisions if the death appears to result from murder, voluntary manslaughter, or another criminal act and the coroner determines there is reasonable suspicion that person committed the offense.

Prohibits persons with authority over a decedent's remains from making disposition decisions if the decedent had filed a protection order against that person and the death appears to result from murder, voluntary manslaughter, or another criminal act.

Requires the coroner to consult with the investigating law enforcement agency before making determinations that restrict a person's authority over remains.

Effective date: July 1, 2010.
