Prohibits smoking in public places, places of employment, and within a reasonable distance of entrances to these locations, effective July 1, 2010

Exempts private residences (unless used as licensed child care, health care facility, or place of employment), retail tobacco stores where tobacco sales account for at least 80% of income, up to 20% of hotel/motel rooms designated as smoking rooms, and outdoor workplaces

Establishes civil penalties: $50 for individuals who smoke in prohibited areas; $100 for first violation by officials in charge of public places, escalating to $200 for second violation and $500 for subsequent violations within one year

Requires all civil penalties collected to be deposited into the Indiana tobacco use prevention and cessation trust fund

Prohibits retaliation against employees, job applicants, or customers who exercise rights under the smoking prohibition law
