SB 129 Summary

• Prohibits dental insurers from requiring dentists to accept insurer-set payment amounts unless the dental services are covered under the patient's policy (effective July 1, 2010)

• Prohibits limited service health maintenance organizations from requiring dentists to accept HMO-set payment amounts unless the dental services are covered under the enrollee's contract (effective July 1, 2010)

• Defines "covered services" to include any health care services for which reimbursement or coverage is available, regardless of contractual limitations like deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, waiting periods, or frequency limits

• Exempts discount medical card program provider agreements regulated under IC 27-17 from these requirements

• Amends IC 27-8-11 and IC 27-13-34 regarding insurance contracts for dental services
