SB 142 Summary

• Renames the "disabled veteran license plate" to "disabled Hoosier veteran license plate" throughout Indiana Code sections 9-14, 9-18, and 14-19.

• Restricts eligibility for disabled Hoosier veteran license plates to veterans with a walking impairment who have a service-connected disability rating lower than 40%, requiring specific certification from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Establishes a single design for disabled Hoosier veteran license plates (blue and gold with blue lettering) and repeals the previous provision requiring two distinct designs.

• Allows disabled Hoosier veteran license plate holders to park in metered spaces without fees or penalties and entitles them to purchase Golden Hoosier Passports at a 50% discount for state parks and recreation areas.
