Public schools and accredited nonpublic schools prohibited from beginning student instructional days before the Tuesday after Labor Day and from ending after June 10, starting with the 2012-2013 school year

Governing bodies may extend the school year end date past June 10 after holding a public hearing and receiving a majority vote

Exemptions provided for year-round schools with breaks not exceeding six weeks, schools with balanced quarter calendars, and schools coordinating calendars with postsecondary institutions

Requirements apply only to collective bargaining agreements and contracts entered into or renewed after June 30, 2012
