Senate Bill 203 Summary

• Requires governmental entities that are beneficiaries of criminal or juvenile restitution orders to annually file payment status reports with the court and state board of accounts.

• Payment status reports must include the restitution order copy, original and unpaid amounts, defendant name, compliance status, any arrearage amounts, and other relevant information.

• Directs the state board of accounts to review restitution order status when conducting audits of governmental entities that are restitution beneficiaries.

• Grants courts authority to issue orders to show cause, find defendants in contempt for knowing non-compliance, or take other judicial action to enforce restitution orders based on payment status reports showing non-compliance.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
