Senate Bill 220 Summary

• Defines "active duty" as full-time service in the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard for more than 30 consecutive days in a calendar year.

• Prohibits courts from considering a parent's absence or relocation due to active military duty as a factor when determining child custody.

• Prohibits courts from considering a parent's absence or relocation due to active military duty as a factor when permanently modifying an existing child custody order.

• Effective July 1, 2010.
