SB 237 Summary

• Establishes an interim study committee on economic development effective upon passage.

• Committee shall study best practices in economic development policies, effectiveness of tax credits and deductions, Indiana's comparative economic advantages, tax law improvements, education system support for economic development, and other issues assigned by legislative council.

• Membership consists of 2 senate members (different parties), 2 house members (different parties), Indiana Economic Development Corporation CEO, and 10 governor-appointed members representing large business, small business, banking, labor, higher education, local development organizations, cities, counties, agriculture, and the public.

• Committee co-chairs appointed by senate president pro tempore and house speaker; majority vote required for committee action.

• Committee must issue final report in electronic format to legislative council before November 30, 2010; committee expires January 1, 2011.
