• Creates the Hoosier Commission for Communities for a Lifetime to develop recommendations for designating communities that enable residents to age in place with quality services and civic engagement.

• Commission membership includes 18 members appointed by legislative leaders and the governor, including city and county officials, aging agency representatives, healthcare providers, university representatives, and legislators, serving terms ending December 31, 2011.

• Commission must develop a process for communities to request designation and identify resources needed from all sectors to initiate and implement community-wide planning for aging-friendly services.
