Senate Bill 345 Summary

• Abolishes the Indiana Commission for Career and Technical Education effective July 1, 2010, and transfers all its duties and property to the State Workforce Innovation Council.

• Amends multiple Indiana Code sections to replace references to the Commission with references to the State Workforce Innovation Council throughout career and technical education statutes.

• Adds a new duty to the State Workforce Innovation Council to develop and implement a long-range state plan for comprehensive career and technical education programs in Indiana.

• Requires the State Workforce Innovation Council to approve workforce partnership plans for institutions to receive federal and state career and technical education funds at secondary and postsecondary levels.

• Repeals seven Indiana Code sections establishing and governing the Commission for Career and Technical Education, with all repealed provisions becoming effective July 1, 2010.
