Senate Bill 350 Summary

• Specifies that funeral escort vehicles may display flashing amber lights and red lights or lenses only when used in funeral processions to gain right-of-way at intersections.

• Requires funeral escort vehicles to be marked on both right and left sides with "Funeral Escort" in letters at least 5 inches tall (2 inches for motorcycles) and prohibits markings that could confuse them with law enforcement vehicles.

• Prohibits funeral escort vehicles from bearing law enforcement markings, seals, or words such as "police," "sheriff," or "officer" that could cause confusion with law enforcement.

• Makes it a Class C misdemeanor to operate a funeral escort vehicle without required markings, with prohibited law enforcement-style markings, or to use flashing red lights and sirens outside of funeral processions.

• Makes it a Class C misdemeanor to drive, park, or move a vehicle on a highway equipped with red, red and white, or red and blue lenses, reflectors, or lights visible from the front unless expressly authorized by statute, effective July 1, 2010.
