Senate Bill 358 Summary

• Reduces the admissions tax imposed at the French Lick riverboat from $4 to $3 per person, effective July 1, 2010.

• Eliminates admissions tax distributions to the Orange County development commission and the West Baden Springs historic hotel preservation and maintenance fund, redirecting revenues to other recipients including the Indiana economic development corporation.

• Requires riverboat wagering taxes that would otherwise fund the West Baden Springs historic hotel preservation and maintenance fund to be refunded to the operating agent for state fiscal years beginning after June 30, 2010, and ending before July 1, 2015.

• Permits the riverboat operating agent to submit claims for reimbursement of expenditures for maintaining the West Baden Springs Hotel and its surrounding grounds, with the department of natural resources required to pay claims using the fund's interest on a first-received basis.

• Transfers previously designated funds from the Orange County convention and visitors bureau to the Orange County development commission and Indiana economic development corporation.
