SB 369 Summary

• Establishes a 3% price preference for state contracts awarded to businesses owned by veterans in public works, goods and services purchasing, and highway construction projects.

• Defines "veteran" as an individual who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces, Indiana National Guard, or their reserves with an honorable discharge, or is currently serving in these branches.

• Applies the preference to state division contracts under IC 4-13.6-6, public works contracts over $25,000 under IC 5-16-1, state purchasing under IC 5-22-15, and Indiana Department of Transportation highway contracts under IC 8-23-9.

• Requires preference calculations to follow the same methodology as other price preferences already established in state law.

• Takes effect July 1, 2010.
