Courts are prohibited from considering a reduction or elimination of a parent's income due to incarceration when establishing or modifying child support orders

Applies to child support orders in paternity cases, dissolution of marriage, legal separation, and other child support proceedings

Existing provisions allowing modification of support orders based on "substantial change in circumstances" or when support differs by more than 20% from guidelines remain in effect, but are now subject to the incarceration restriction

Effective date: July 1, 2011
