HB 1081 Summary

• Farm winery permittees may sell up to 12,000 gallons of wine per permit year to holders of wine retailer's and wine dealer's permits.

• Removes requirement for initial face-to-face transaction between direct wine seller and consumer; allows age verification through government-issued identification or approved internet-based age verification service.

• Direct wine seller permittees may ship maximum of 18,000 gallons (reduced from 27,000 liters) of wine annually in Indiana and may only ship wine they manufactured, produced, or bottled.

• Increases trade show participation limit for farm winery permit holders from 30 to 45 days per calendar year with commission approval.

• Direct wine seller permittees must pay applicable wine excise tax and hard cider excise tax on beverages they manufacture or import; eliminates certain applicant restrictions for direct wine seller permits.
