• Requires the Indiana Department of Correction to establish, implement, and maintain an offender behavior management program that includes instruction on successful reentry, rehabilitation, and nonviolence.

• Allows offenders who successfully complete the behavior management program to earn up to six months of credit time, with the amount determined by the department of correction.

• Adds behavior management program completion as a new category (IC 35-50-6-3.3(b)(3)(E)) for earning credit time, alongside existing programs like GED, substance abuse treatment, and career/technical education.

• Prohibits offenders from earning credit time under this program for participating in sex offender treatment programs or other sex offender programs.

• Makes participation in an approved behavior management program mandatory for inmates serving sentences for crimes listed in IC 35-38-2.5-4.7(1).

• Effective date: July 1, 2011.
