House Bill 1151 Summary

• Allows physical therapists to evaluate and treat patients for up to 30 calendar days without a referral from a physician, podiatrist, psychologist, chiropractor, or dentist.

• Requires physical therapists to obtain a referral from an appropriate provider if the patient needs additional treatment beyond the initial 30-day period.

• Amends Indiana Code 25-27-1 to add new section 2.5 establishing the 30-day direct-access provision for physical therapy services.

• Effective July 1, 2011.
