HB 1299 Summary

• Prohibits hunting or harvesting of game mammals, elk, and furbearing mammals held under a game breeder's license except at licensed hunting facilities, with all such hunting prohibited after July 1, 2018.

• Allows existing game breeders who documented deer or elk hunting in 2008-2010 to continue operating licensed hunting facilities under specific requirements including an 80-acre minimum enclosed by 8-foot boundary fence.

• Requires licensed hunting facilities to charge $250 per harvested buck and $50 per doe to the department, maintain daily records, and comply with animal health board rules regarding chronic wasting disease.

• Exempts non-whitetail deer and elk taken at licensed hunting facilities from bag, sex, and size limits and hunting license requirements; prohibits releasing new deer or elk into these facilities after July 1, 2016.
