HB 1350 Summary

• Authorizes at least two contiguous governmental units to establish an ambulance service territory using the same process and structure as fire protection territories.

• Grants ambulance service territories the same powers and duties for providing emergency ambulance services or emergency medical services that fire protection territories have for fire protection services.

• Allows provider units of ambulance service territories to receive surplus property transfers from governmental bodies, establish territory funds, impose property taxes, and incur debt in the same manner as fire protection territory provider units.

• Applies existing fire protection territory statutes to ambulance service territories, including provisions for equipment replacement funds, tax levy limitations, equipment purchases, withdrawal procedures, and care for injured emergency medical services providers.

• Takes effect upon passage with an emergency declaration.
