• Requires local government ordinances regulating wind energy conversion systems (WECS) to mandate that WECS towers be constructed from Indiana steel.

• Defines "WECS tower" as the support structure to which a generator and rotor are attached.

• Requires ordinances to establish criteria for determining whether a WECS tower is manufactured from Indiana steel.

• Allows local ordinances to exempt WECS systems that generate electricity solely for private use from the Indiana steel requirement.

• Effective July 1, 2011.
