House Bill 1360 Summary

• School corporations must provide health insurance to active and retired certificated employees through a state employee health plan, effective July 1, 2011.

• The state shall not pay any portion of the cost of health coverage for school corporation employees.

• School corporations must pay for coverage an amount not exceeding what the state pays for the same coverage for state employees, and employees must pay at least what state employees pay for identical coverage.

• School corporations must provide this coverage for a minimum of three (3) years once elected and bear all administrative costs of participation in the state health plan.

• Collective bargaining rights regarding school employee health insurance programs and benefits are preserved and not impaired by this requirement.
