Allows high school students attending nonpublic schools not affiliated with an interscholastic athletic association to participate in athletics at public high schools within their legal settlement, effective July 1, 2011.

Students from accredited nonpublic schools must meet the same academic requirements as public school students and comply with all athletic association standards including tryouts, codes of conduct, physical exams, and transfer rules.

Students from nonaccredited nonpublic schools must either meet accredited school requirements or demonstrate three consecutive years of attendance at nonaccredited schools and achieve minimum scores on nationally recognized assessment tests approved by the department of education.

Nonaccredited nonpublic school students who provide false information or documentation to meet eligibility requirements become ineligible to participate and may face association penalties.

Public and accredited nonpublic schools that knowingly allow nonaccredited school students to participate using false qualifications are subject to penalties established by the athletic association.
