HB 1415 Summary

• Permits a licensed riverboat owner operating in Gary to submit a plan to the Indiana Gaming Commission for constructing an inland casino within Gary's city limits.

• Allows relocation of not more than one riverboat gambling operation from Lake Michigan docks to an inland location, with a required $25,000,000 relocation fee paid to the state general fund.

• Modifies the definition of "riverboat" to include casinos located in historic hotel districts and casinos located in Gary, in addition to traditional self-propelled excursion boats.

• Requires operators of inland casinos in Gary to implement flexible scheduling (24-hour gambling operations with continuous patron access) and comply with applicable building and safety codes.

• Effective July 1, 2011, with conforming changes to remove obsolete provisions regarding the original riverboat licensing process.
