HB 1492 Summary

• Establishes distribution method for county funds designated for law enforcement continuing education that cannot be distributed using existing procedures due to inability to attribute fee collections to specific agencies

• City and town law enforcement agencies in a county shall receive a percentage of the fund equal to their jurisdiction's percentage of the total county population, based on the 2010 federal decennial census

• County law enforcement agencies receive any remaining funds in the county fund after distributions to city and town agencies are made

• County fiscal bodies must complete all transfers to appropriate law enforcement agencies before July 1, 2012

• Provision becomes effective July 1, 2011 and expires July 1, 2013
