Requires the Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning to establish a procedure allowing nursing home residents to seek prior approval for Medicaid when their assets do not exceed $5,000.

The office must review applications and determine if applicants meet all Medicaid requirements except asset limits, and must issue written preapproval if all other requirements are met.

Preapproved individuals may submit a form to the office once their assets meet Medicaid requirements, and the office must expedite final approval upon submission.

The office may apply to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for a state Medicaid plan amendment if deemed necessary to implement this section.

The office is authorized to adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to implement this section, effective July 1, 2011.
