IN HB1550

Expands eligibility for the military family relief fund by removing the requirement that qualified service members serve after September 11, 2001 and during a time of national conflict or war.

Redefines "qualified service member" to include any Indiana resident who is a member of the armed forces or National Guard and is serving on active duty, regardless of when or under what circumstances they serve.

Extends assistance eligibility to up to one year after a qualified service member's active duty service ends, removing the previous requirement to track the end of specific national conflicts or wars.

Maintains the fund's purpose to provide grants for assistance with food, housing, utilities, medical services, transportation, child care, education, employment, and other essential family support expenses.

Effective July 1, 2011.
